I think it was very uncomplicated

Lambert was always going to dump us the first chance he got to go to a bigger club (that was the story of his career and how he arrived at us in the first place, so we have no cause for complaint). And Villa are definitely a considerably bigger club. All the rest of the tedious verbal jabs are just PR stunts from the various people involved.
