And yesterday's setup was different because Murphy/Laffs stayed wide pretty much all the time whereas when Wes was playing he always drifted inside.

What should we have changed it to then? Taken a striker off and gone 4-5-1?

The problem at the moment is not mainly tactical, it is execution. No-one in the squad seems able to cross properly (time to bring in garrido, who can, over the hopelessly noverrated Olsson maybe?) or early enough and the defence just keep making one costly individual error per game...

At this point it's a confidence issue - because things haven't been going well they are taking that little bit extra time to try and ensure they get it right, whereas that is probably the last thing they shoudl be doing. But it's an instinctive response.
