I had costochondritis a few years back. Yes to side, no to back

Not quite the same thing but probably similar. Get it checked out if you're not sure - though in my case there wasn't much to do but wait for it to go away, which took about a week. It hurt, but the painkillers they gave me stopped me thinking straight which I couldn't be having, so I didn't take many of them (one at night to help with sleep worked a treat though).
