I don't think that Johnson was being knocked especially, just people were pointing out

That they think Tettey is a better player and also is better in the holding role if you are going to play a more attack minded midfielder alongside him.

That's not really knocking Johnson. I agree he's generally played well this season but I think Tetts is better and more importantly I think his presence in the side makes a whole load of other players play better because he provides a genuine screen in front of the back 4 whereas if you watch Johnson he actually gets bypassed quite easily when playing that role.
