The 39 league goals in 5 years. That goal record?

He scored a few VERY memorable spectacular goals, but that camouflages a lot of ineffective football. He WAS generally great when we were a) playing the big teams or b) live onthe box though. I remember seeing him play well agsinst Derby once and being surprised since neither of the aforementioned two conditions were fulfilled, but then it transpired the Scotland manager had been in the crowd. You couldn't rely on him to put in a shift.
Fans loved him mainly because he spent so much time (like fans) winding up the opposition!
