If his boss isn't going to allow him to leave, he may aswell take the money.

A 5-year contract doesn't mean that a player will stay at a club for 5 years, does it!

I think AJ is in a similar boat to Deano, he stayed because he felt we'd go straight back up, but now this is looking a fairly difficult acheivement for both clubs... but ultimately whether they leave or not will be decided by their respective chairmen, and their vastly different way of dealing with these sit-oo-ations.
