Blackpool Yesterday

Went to the Lancashire Riviera yesterday and it was indeed an 'experience'.

We decided on the train to Blackpool North and were in the company of many revellers, most of whom had taken a drink or several for breakfast along with an assortment of stimulants. Many of the ladies in the party had evidently forgotten to dress. As the Party Train arrived in Blackpool at 13:00, most of the passengers fell off it and then collapsed in a heap in the platform. As we dryly remarked "I don't think they are going to the football".

Stepping through the drunk and drugged-up wreckage, we headed on foot through the picturesque town centre towards Bloomfield Road. As a Wrath message observed "It makes Great Yarmouth look like Monte Carlo".

Bloomfield Road is not one of the great theatres of football. However it was good fun to sit in the warm Lancashire sunshine watching the Canaries demolish (eventually) a quite limited Blackpool team 3-1. It was very different (and better) than our Premier League travels.

We were also joined in the Away End (we were by by the Press Area) by Norwich City Legend Bryan Gunn commentating for BBC Radio Norfolk.

Walking back to the station after the game we decided to forego the unique evening entertainment and catering that Blackpool offers But ended up providing the football score to several drunk Scotsmen. "How did use get on today?"

A more tranquil train journey home, as two massively drunken florescent clad ladies fell off their heels on the station approach, so we carefully stepped round their inebriated bodies and set off for home.

Fulham's next for me. I suspect that it'll be different.
