those teams are exceluded from the esarly stages of teh League Cup because it clashes with European fixture dates - there aren't enough gaps in the calendar.

How will forcing those clubs to come in earlier enhance the status of the competition - 20 years ago I recall man U's kids being beaten over two legs by York. The competition was a joke then. It won't remotely solve the underlying problem of the cups, which is that the league is what generates your cash (if you're a team with a chance of playing in the Prem)
