Relegation could and should have been avoidable, but three teams have to go down.

We were one of the three worst. A home victory against West Brom and we would have been the fourth worst and playing another season in the Prem.

Such tiny margins.

Yo-yo'ing for The Baggies haven't done them any harm in the last decade. Comes back to the cyclical nature of football.

So, in the context of Mick's piece, we have done exceptionally well to achieve what we have. The difference from 05/06 and the ensuing wilderness years... Bowkett and McNally have re-built the club on firm bedrock and huge cornerstones. We are much better prepared than ever to regain our place back in the Prem, and perhaps this time give ourselves the opportunity to become an established side in that division.

However, in establishing ourselves as a permenant fixture in the Premier League, we're going to have to displace another established top-flight club. And so it goes round again. And again. And again etc.
