I'm always amazed at how many people do anything given the

data that every company you deal with will mine your data in every conceivable way they can legally (and sometimes not) get away with.

I have the misfortune to be a dabbling data protection lawyer - there is no such thing as privacy in the modern world. If you want to avoid it, best never use a store card, post a letter, use a credit card, make a phonme call etc etc etc.

At least Google tends to try to do things by the book - not my experience of all household name companies.
