I still don't think it will happen, however the fact that we are so close to it simply beggars belief.

This is not a time of great social or civil unrest. There have been no campaigns, marches, protests initiated by the public to force this. No revolution, velvet or otherwise. Just nothing. Simply an opportunity to vote, in essence, for a political party; an individual promoting a dream.

The SNP were only elected to run the Scottish parliament because its population had run out of love for the Labour of Blair and Brown. Not because they actually wanted to stop being British.

Oooh this seems fun! Then, to bastardise Withnail, I can see the imploring wails in a few years time. "Can you please help us? We've gone independent by mistake."
