March, or in your case walk, up hill for 40 seconds, then turn and slowly walk backwards up the hill for 10 seconds, as if 'covering' yourself from potential foes.
What it does is two things. 1, it uses a different muscle group and range, tricking the body into thinking that its resting. 2, it tricks the mind into thinking the gradient is reduced, thus making it feel 'easier' when you turn around to resume walking forward up the hill
Try it and report the results.
