There is the old clich?, "trying too hard". It applies to him, I think.

He puts in lots of crosses, often good ones, and shoots a lot. His workrate is excellent, but in trying so hard he over hits, hurries and overestimates how much his team mates can do. He tries to larrup each shot so hard the leather comes off.
