Is it becoming much clearer why Adams was given the job?

He's as good as said he has nothing to do with player sales.

Did the board want someone they could easily control and who would just be happy to be in the job. Rather than someone who could potentially kick up a fuss.

Looks like Adams was tailor made for the role with the goings on in terms of players going out.
