as they say in footballing parlance. My little lads football team is playing at Carrow Road at the Preston game in front of the crowd. Thing is NCFC stipulated that only boys who were season tickets were guaranteed a place. At my lads club 6 boys met this criteria. So the remaining 6 lads went into a hat for the three remaining places and of course my boys name didn't come out of the hat. He turns up every week for training and games (unlike some of the others) my wife religiously takes him all over the area and stands in wind rain snow etc even though she doesn't really like football. We are all members of the club but obviously because I work overseas a season ticket is not an option. The poor lad was utterly devestated yesterday when the club manager told him he couldn't be a part of it. He held it together at the club but cracked up in the car on the way home and refused to get out for nearly an hour and a half. He said to his mum that he will never play football ever again. I know it's not a big deal in the scheme of things but what with me being away from home and thinking of the poor lad having his dreams crushed really cut me up yesterday. He loves football and is not a bad little player, of course I'll try to make it right when I get home and it is a "life lesson" for him but it is a real s**t all the same. I wish I was home.
