(that's just 5 who came to the Premier League / available since Jan 1 2014. I'm sure we can spend ages picking holes in why they would not have been suitable but that wasn't your question, and the fact remains that 3 were attracted to the Premier League clubs in a similar-ish position to ours, and the other two could have been made attractive offers if we'd wanted them enough.)

Do you seriously think that there was not a single credible candidate then in employment elsewhere in the UK or Europe that would have been interested / available and who was better than Adams?

'Best in class' is a great epithet, but it rather depends on what class of manager the club was looking at.
