Giving Neil the job was a move the board thought would make everybody happy

As are the ridiculous sound bites that keep getting released, a massive pr exercise all being said to placate fans so they don't get on his back.
Saying the things that they think the fans want to hear means nothing without the on pitch performance to back it up.
