A mountain bike can do all three

you'll just be (a lot) slower on the roads than you would be with a road bike. Unless you're going on club runs though or rides over 100km, then it doesn't matter so much. You can put semi-slick tyres on it as well to make it more of a hybrid. A true hybrid would struggle on rougher mtb trails - because the frame and parts won't be tough enough.

Eventually you'll probably want to get a road bike as well because they're much more fun for road riding.
