Yes, about 20 years ago...... the beaches to the south of

Les Sables d'Ollone around Longville and Le Tranche are stunning - very much like Holkham, backed by pine woods, but not sure if the 'dogging' action is as good!

As well as Nantes, I would recommend going about an hour South of where I think you'll be, to La Rochelle which is a beautiful town. Cognac is only an hour further away than that and well worth a visit. You can do a tour of Martell or Remy Martin.
