I think the reason a lot of people (myself included) are sad to see him go is because it represents the ultimate recognition of how badly we f**ked up last season. It's normal to want to see players succeed, especially when so much hope and expectation is placed in them, so to see our much-heralded record signing shuffling out the back door is depressing, even though logic dictates that it's a good call given his abysmal record last season. It's tempting to think he could redeem himself this season, but I think this is a delusion driven by a desire to see something salvaged from last season. I'm sad about Ricky's failure, but now I think it's best to move on.
