Go to SOLITA in the Northern Quarter for brunch. Its about 5 mins from where you are.

Manchester Art Gallery on Mosley Street is really good, only 10 mins or so from the Arndale. Go up to Piccadilly Gardens and turn right.

The Manchester Museum on Oxford Rd at the university is great. Easy to get a bus from Piccadilly Gardens.

Port Street Beer house is 5/10 mins walk up in the Northern Quarter.

Lots of little boutiques and shops in the Northern Quarter.

Pie and Ale is a nice little place to eat.
