Wiggins won the Tour - a route with unusually little high climbing - with a particular tactic (of his team driving it up every climb, and then taking time in the time trials). Even then, he struggled when the race got to the high mountains.
Unlike Wiggins, Froome is a climber. Even then, Quintana had him in trouble on Alpe D'Huez.
And both had ridden - and won - in exactly that way all season.
Nibali's superiority has just been complete. He's looked like he could ride away from everyone whenever he wanted. And yet his form has been nothing like this all year.
