The UK gov. want to appear tough alongside the US but the Tories don't wanna be too tough because of Russians close to the Tory party... it wants Russians to bring their money here. Russians like how easy it is for foreigners to avoid tax in the UK. Any sanctions on wealthy Russians will be highly selective.

Putin knows that he can do as he likes cos many EU countries are dependant upon Russian energy supplies.

Russia will continue to say that the fighting in Ukraine has little to do with them, so what will happen is that NATO will now look to get involved to help calm the situation and secure areas poss by sending in ground troops. If Russia dunt like it then Nato will say 'I thought you said this had nothing to do with you, if you are involved then we will do you over MH17'.
