I disagree with this (although am aware this is me showing my age)

if you need to know the time, it *is* easier and quicker to glance at your wrist than to reach into your pocket, pull out your phone, and press the on button or swipe the screen or whatever.

Plus you can wear your watch anywhere anytime - eg swimming or whatever. Trickier with a phone.

(This does not justify spending ???s on a watch though, obviously.)
