It was almost like he was buying players because he thought they were good players but without thinking how they would fit into the side.
He wanted to play 4-2-3-1 but bought RVW and Hooper, neither of whom are really suited to playing as a lone striker or to playing alongside each other. Really we should have bought one of them and then spent big on an Elmander type.
He bought Fer but then clearly did not have a clue where best to play him.
When it was clear we needed more pace in the team he stopped playing Redmond and then brought in Gutierez just to make us even more slow.
This is something that concerns me a bit about this new structure we are bringing in with the director of recruitment and having a "football board." etc. I really feel that the transfer strategy has to flow from the manager and the way he wants to play and not from the scout or Mcnally simply saying/deciding "x is available shall we get him." Hopefully that won;t be the case.
