he's technically decent

but he doesn't have a football brain.

He just gets the ball, runs into a crowd of players, loses it and falls over. Repeatedly (bang your head against a wall repeatedly!)

He doesn't tackle well, he can't shoot, his passing is so so, he can just control a ball well. BUt he doesn't do anything useful with it.

The trouble is, as a nation we've been so starved of technically decent players that when one appears we fawn all over them and treat them as saviours without actually noticing what they actually DO with that technical ability (which in Wilshere's case - sadly because he has the tools to be a decent footballer - is almost nothing)
