The thing is, yes, he did okay at Luton in the second half. But after that game, everyone on here was saying how Luton backed off in the second half and that was why we looked good in the second half because really we were awful (an argument used at the time to say why Worthy should be sacked, despite a decent second half showing).
Ryan Jarvis has had chances. Young players have to take their chance when it comes along. He hasn't. And now he seems to be forever injured, which means, when he does score, he can't stay in the team.
As regards to Thorne, I think we are being a bit disrespectful to the guy. Yes, he hasn't set the world alight, but he is a decent target man, with a successful track record at this level. His form has been poor, but I think he is a better player than Ryan Jarvis.
Stikers need one of three attributes to be successful. Pace, height and strength, or technical ability (okay I know height and strength are two things but they complement each other). What exactly does Jarvis have? Technical ability presumably because he doesn't have the other two. But is he really that gifted? If he is - he needs to start showing it when he comes off the bench - EVERY TIME!
