RaspberryPi can run XBMC (free and has lots of amazing plug-ins to stream movies etc. for free)
RaspberryPi has Ethernet connection for better quality streaming.
RaspberryPi supports CEC so you can use a TV remote control with it.
You can use a RaspberryPi as a desktop computer running email programs, web browsers, game console emulators etc. on your TV.
RaspberryPi has an SD card slot and USB connections.
