So it may take a little longer than you anticipate. Obviously this is dependant on the breed and intelligence etc.

Tips for leaving it on its own. We used a pillow with a towel and hot water bottle wrapped inside it and placed it in the pen that we have for our dog. Dogs like the warmth of someone or something beside them. Also young dogs often suffer separation anxiety so you need some way to entertain them while you leave them alone. We used to leave the radio on low and also bought a toy called a kong

Basically you put treats in it and it's a challenge for the dog to work out how to get the treat out. You give it to the dog a couple of mins before you go out or go to bed and then leave them with it. After they've got the treats they settle down and sleep.

Make sure wherever you leave them they have a few toys and it's somewhere comfortable and they will be fine.

All of the above worked an absolute treat for our dog. We did it from when we got him at 9 weeks and it worked right away. No crying or scratching etc.
