In January the Board felt they were unable to make a better long term decision than retaining Hughton - given that Adams might not necessarily be the best man for the job at that point.

However, having worked through all the criteria, they have now settled on Adams because he ticks every box - inclusing availability and willingness to work in a particular management structure.
