All clubs are trying do that, but it isn't that simple (especially the academy stuff - loads of teams have spent loads more than us on youth programmes for years without significant results - not because they are rubbish at it but because its ludicrously hard). We could have done exactly the same things as we did this season and finished comfortably mid-table if not for individual player errors at key times. Just because our season went badly doesn't necessarily mean our whole approach was misguided or any worse than anyone else's.
You go on about not sacking a manager when you are 13th at Christmas. Who did? We certainly didn't nor did Fulham. All teams appoint managers because they think they are the right person and will hopefully be there for years. By your argument you'd never sack a manager because that would demonstrate you didn't have any faith in his original appointment???
