My thinking behind the reasoning for the Gutierrez signing

Hughton was planning in trying to generate more goals by playing both RVW and Hooper. That would obviously reduce the number of midfielders so he felt he needed a more 'defensive' wide player to give us more ball-winning ability per player in midfield. I'm just guessing though...
