the club can have the gall to trot this out as an excuse. If its true we HAVE got one of the divsion's smallest squads - WHY???? We are better off financially than nearly all of them.

My personal view is that Worthy gambled he'd be able to repeat his trick from 2003 (which was luck not strategy) of not spending in the summer and having the choice of attractive loanees after the window closed when everyone else had run out of money. Then when the time came he found the loan market was pretty thin so we were screwed. With the money available thsi year we shouldn't have had to make that gamble - unlike in 2003 we could have competed very effectively in the transfer market proper. But we didn't even try.
