He's a pantomime buffoon really.

He's got where he is by doing the whole non-conformist / says what he thinks thing and being things that telly execs love ? edgy, a bit dangerous? be an arse, just not an offensive arse.
He has outrageous opinions that he's paid handsomely to have.

And he's certainly an idiot if he's jeopardised his BBC contract with this.
