I don't think they do make more costly errors

they make more visible errors - like a poor tackle or mis-judging a bounce; but in reality that is no more costly than s**t positioning, or letting your man go, or failing to cover the angle for a pass that leads to a goal.

Which Johnson and Martin are guilty of all the time.
