Managers don't manage the way they played

for example - George Graham. His nickname as a player was 'stroller', for the cultured way he stroked the ball around, and the fact that he rarely made a tackle.

As a manager produced sides renowned for defensive organisation and winning 1-0.

As for Chippy's sense of humour and his wife's roots - have to say they're not very near the top of my selection criteria. (But the fact that she was willing to live in Australia and Japan doesn't really suggest she's desperate for them to settle in Norfolk.)

So it rests on his record as a manager. If he really is the most successful bloke we can attract, fine. No idea how well he's really done, personally. But this has nothing to do with who he used to play for.
