OK - the board's inactivity: I think I've nailed it.

I can't have this 'too nice' thing. Can't be that, no chance.

However - I think it can be explained by looking at being honourable.

Imagine the conversation last August-but one:

"Oi won't get sacked if we get relegated will oi? (cheeky smile).....notmean?"

"No, Nigel, we won't bin you for that, your job's safe [insert rider here]"

I think we just have to wait and see what that rider was.
