Betis went down because of Osasuna's win over Madrid on the last day

I'd like to give some detail about this result

If Real Madrid have lost the title, they'll lose games like this. It's gutting if you need them to get a result. Betis won their final game about 5-0 (I suppose similarly, the opposition couldn't care either)

I remember Real not just giving a crap, but I'm sure Salgado got sent off just because he couldn't care less about playing (and he was joining Blackburn in the summer)

So they won what looks like a majestical tie, but Madrid really didn't care

In perspective, there was once a post on here about betting, where on the last day of the season, Siena were 1.28 to beat AC Milan, and another team near the bottom were a similar price at 1.33 against the team that finished second. The post on here suggested that AC and the other team must be worth a double at 8/1 and 9/1 respectively, because they were 1st and 2nd in the league

Siena and the other lowly team won, unsurprisingly

It's the reason why I never watch the Italian league, the bookies called it

Bilbao had a similar end to the season in 2008 I think, with 3 games to go they beat Madrid and Barcalona, but Barca had won the title 3 games earlier, so both teams pretty much handed Bilbao the points (and survivial)
