Well, they certainly went out of their way to make my morning's optimism look foolish

I want to 'enjoy' MotD properly before gettingh stuck into the 'fun' on here, but thought I'd drop a quick one before we clock into the 6th.

For those that read my Outwide to Steeno post at the foot of this page (2nd thread of the day*), I had my Norwich & District Saturday League final match of the season to play first (2pm kick off).

I came on in a double substition an hour into the game as left back @ what I thought was 1-6 but must've been 1-5. We already had our first sub on the wing in front of me, our worst and slowest player playing his last game for us before he moves to London (thank God), so it wasn't long before I found a triangle of their players around me and the inevitable 6/7th scored. It finished 3-9 with me cutting across their striker who was through on goal, stabbing the ball away before he could shoot, but instead of it going out for a corner, the wind helping it spin inside the near post for what I thought was their 10th @2-9/10. Despite that I actually played well today and thankfully my feet didn't ache in my 'end of their life' soft ground boots on the rock hard ground (the size 9s of my chosen replacements - soft & firm - having been out of stock the last two times I've tried to get them), like they did in the full outfield 90 I played prior to Swansea. At least I scored this season! Beyond ricochets when playing in goal, I can't recall scoring an OG against this club before, so it must go back many years since my last.

I was gonna check the City score online on my phone before biking home but I'm glad I didn't so that it didn't spoil my ride in the sunshine. Obviously I wasn't exactly joyous after our own capitulation (we did have a youngster making his debut in goal in the 2nd half, gifting them at least 3 out of his 6 conceeded), but my mood plummeted once I heard the tension in the crowd and the tone of the commentator's voice before hearing the score with 20 left to play. You all know the rest. It reminded me off the 0-2 defeat to Reading in April '09 that tolled the bell for our drop to the 3rd tier. I felt so deflated afterwards I couldn't even muster any anger. Gutless. I made myself listen to Canary Call afterwards as some sort of punishment for being foolish enough to think they'd give it a real go. Pathetic.

- Right Cardiff-Palace: I'm paying attention to this one, so this'll do for now...
