Though that the fault is on the cyclist is a nonsense really because who usually comes out worse in a collision? Cyclists have right of way at junctions in Denmark for this very reason - cars just have to wait. And, believe me, it can be somewhat nerve wracking watching your mirror for cyclists coming alongside at various paces; but, well, it works.
