I don't think he is a liablity in general

but when he plays badly, he tends to lose the ball very easily, often in quite dangerous positions leading to counter attacks.

I rate Hoolahan and think he should start more often, but I'm not sure why some fans feel the need to rate him like he is Iniesta or Silva. There are clear weaknesses in his game that puts him well below those players.
