Yes.

I have done this loads of times. The first time was an accident as I missed the turn off tor the A17 and didn't fancy the A52. Since then I always go A47/A1.

Last time this was asked some one off of on of in of out of here suggested staying on the A1 to Huntingdon then A14/A11. I have not tried this but may do one day.
