i rented an alfa brera (sp?) once

that might have been my fault as i down shifted from 4th to second and the revs went off the scale and the engine management system stuck the car into "limp home mode" or suffern just outside gatwicks. the RAC bloke reset it and it worked alright for about five miles and then went back into gary doherty mode again and i had to drive all the way home to norfolks at 35mph. lovely looking car but a tad slow imo.
