suggests that they are letting us down with their finishing. You could argue they could be better motivated, but I think strikers generally gain confidence by taking their chances rather than a few words from a manager.

It would be foolish to try to set up with a lot more attacking formation, compromising our defensive solidity (which we have been recently, only let down by individual errors), when our attackers are not very clinical.
