G'day Rothers - TECHY HELP needed, please

My issue is with playing any video from, say, Youtube or a footie link. It all works fine in small frame, but freezes after a few seconds in full screen. Any ideas ? This is on my laptop, if that makes a difference.

Yes, I have tried an early morning smell up the USB
Yes, I have switched it on, off and on again.

Out for a couple of hours now, but hopeful of an instant solution with not too much computerese detail when I get back.
