Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam fails in an appeal against a Football Association charge of violent conduct and will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect. The 28-year-old Scotland international was charged after appearing to stamp on Arsenal's Olivier Giroud last Saturday.
Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes tells the club's website: "I am extremely disappointed for the effect that this is going to have on Charlie and on the football club." Adam will be banned for Saturday's match at Norwich, the 15 March home game with West Ham and the fixture at Aston Villa on 23 March.
