There is a different between fracking for conventional hydrocarbons

and fracking for unconventional hydrocarbons.

Fracking for conventional oil goes back to the 40s and 50s.

Fracking for shale gas and tight oil has only occurred for the last decade or so when slickwater fracking was combined with horizontal drilling.

Whilst the core process is similar they are not the same thing.
