Firstly, I REALLY want him to do well. He seems a grounded guy who appears well liked by his team mates. Also, I think yesterday he played the best game since he arrived.
All that said, I think he was a bad purchase, and will be sold at a substantial loss in the summer.
I appreciate people trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, but the constant praise for him 'taking up great positions off the ball' is no substitute for the fact he has scored 1 goals in 15 or so games.
People keep saying he was injured, and that he will take time to adapt to the English game, but you have to compare him to other foreign players who have quickly come into the Premier League and started scoring goals.
For 3m more, we could have gone after Bony, who has now scored 19 goals this season. I think, even considering his injury, the wolf should really be in the 6-10 goals range right now, considering how much we paid for him.
The real nail in the coffin for me was when he was put through yesterday, with two defenders to beat. He looked slow, clumsy and never looked even close to getting a shot away. That was the sort of pass people have been saying he needs. He got it, and I don't think many people in the ground thought he looked like scoring from it.
Again, I really hope I'm wrong, but I think we need to stick with Hooper, for the rest of the season, and cut our losses in the summer.
