my wife has taken this in the past for hemiplaegic migraines

To be perfectly blunt, it turned her into a f**king zombie (we called it 'amatrippy') and she decided she'd rather face the occasional loss of speech/motor skills through the migraines to being drugged up on that stuff.

Mind you, she's also on strong anti-epilepsy drugs, so it may have been interacting with that and not have quite the same affect for you (particularly if the doseage is low).

(I don't recall the odd drink making things noticeably worse for her though, but would imaine any heavy drinking would be a bad idea)
