Is McNally REALLY saying our wage bill was lower than Reading's last season? Really?

I'm having a pretty hard time imagining it having been less than Wigan's, Swansea's or Southampton's too.

Not arguing that 11th wasn't over-achievement - of course it was! - but Swansea finished higher and won something, so they over-achieved more than us: yet McNally suggested what we'd done was unprecedented.

And my problem is this. If he's prepared to exaggerate/be economical with the truth on these two points, what else is he not being 100% honest about?

I accept the wage bill will probably be 18th this season though. Above only Hull and Palace I think.
